How the centering tool works

Card centering questions
- How do you measure card centering?
- Centering compares the border on one edge of a card with the border directly opposite it, on both the left-to-right and top-to-bottom axes. Upload a photo and the tool finds those borders, measures all four, and reports each axis as a ratio such as 55/45.
- Is the card centering tool free?
- Yes. Measuring centering and seeing the predicted centering grade is free, and you do not need an account to run a card through it. Saving reports to come back to later requires signing in.
- Which grading companies does it cover?
- PSA, BGS, CGC, SGC and TAG. One measurement is scored against every rubric at once, so you can see where a card clears a top tier and where it falls short before choosing where to submit.
- Does it work for Pokémon and sports cards?
- Yes. It works as a Pokemon card centering tool, a sports card centering tool, and a centering calculator for One Piece, Lorcana and other TCGs. Centering is a measurement of the printed border, so anything with a border can be measured — bordered cards simply show the error more plainly than full-bleed ones.
- How accurate is the centering measurement?
- The measurement is only as good as the photo. Shoot the card flat and square-on with even light and the detected borders are precise; shooting at an angle stretches one border and compresses the other. Every line can be adjusted by hand if you disagree with the detection.
- Does good centering guarantee a high grade?
- No. Centering is one component of a grade, alongside corners, edges and surface. A passing centering measurement means the card clears the first gate, not that it will come back a 10.
